As we continue our journey through the Season of Self, I invite you to pause and reflect on this gentle truth: we are nature. Just as the seasons shift and the earth knows when to rest, we too are allowed to honor cycles of stillness and regeneration. And yet, supremacy culture—with its relentless demands for productivity—separates us from this natural rhythm. It pushes us into constant motion, telling us our worth is tied to what we produce and achieve. But what if we chose differently? What if we allowed ourselves to come back into alignment with the wisdom of nature and reclaim the rest and reflection that is our birthright?

This isn’t just about personal well-being; it’s about dismantling systems that harm us. Supremacy culture thrives on perfectionism, urgency, and disconnection from self and community. By resisting these narratives, we take a radical step toward liberation—not only for ourselves but for the collective.

A Call to Come Inside

Someone recently wrote to me about this series, and their words have stayed with me:

"The Season of Self series feels like a best friend. You explore these topics with so much honesty and compassion. I really appreciate the permission to follow natural cycles as a guide, rather than getting on the ‘New Year, new beginnings!’ bandwagon. I don’t know about anyone else, but death and transformation envelop my life at the moment. I can’t pretend that it’s Spring! So, I would like to request a scholarship in hopes of participating more deeply. Please know that I intend to subscribe as soon as I am able to. Thank you for your time."

Reading this reminded me of why I began this series in the first place. Dismantling supremacy culture and the systems within it shouldn’t feel like a to-do list item. It isn’t just a task we check off. It is an embodied practice. It is sacred. It is meant to be supported and done in community.

The Season of Self is about offering that support, that sense of belonging and alignment, and the reminder that we are nature. Like the cycles of the earth, we are allowed to honor seasons of rest, death, and transformation before rushing into new beginnings. This is not about ignoring the demands of the world, but about reimagining how we navigate them—with honesty, with compassion, and with the support of a community committed to liberation.

The current landscape only adds to the urgency of this work. With the stressors of capitalism, the constraints of supremacy culture, and the weight of an uncertain political future, it can feel impossible to pause. The demands are constant, and the systems are relentless. But that is exactly why coming inside—literally and metaphorically—is more imperative than ever. Coming inside means returning to ourselves, reclaiming our humanity, and aligning with values that sustain us. It means tending to our inner landscape so we can show up whole within our communities.

This isn’t about retreating from the world; it’s about grounding ourselves so we can engage with the world from a place of clarity, intention, and resilience. When we care for ourselves in this way, we resist the forces that seek to fragment us. We become better equipped to imagine and build communities rooted in equity, care, and connection.

Navigating Alignment Amid Capitalism

The question, of course, is how. How do we honor the sacred work of alignment while navigating the very real demands of capitalism and supremacy culture?

I want to pause here to acknowledge something important: this work can feel impossible. When the weight of daily survival is compounded by systemic oppression, personal struggles, and societal expectations, finding the space to pause feels like a luxury many cannot afford. Supremacy culture thrives on this tension. It creates conditions where constant striving is necessary just to make ends meet and where reflection and rest are dismissed as indulgent or unproductive.

I see you in this struggle. I see how hard it is to stay rooted when navigating personal roadblocks, whether that’s financial precarity, caregiving responsibilities, or the emotional toll of living under systems that were never designed for your flourishing. These barriers are real, and they are painful.

And yet, even within these constraints, moments of alignment are possible. They don’t require grand gestures or significant resources. They begin with small, intentional acts that remind you of your humanity. They are acts of resistance, no matter how small they may seem, because they disrupt the systems that seek to deplete and fragment you.
