You’re up early! (I guess I don’t know your time zone, so maybe I’m wrong🤣). I’m just noticing a lot of my favorite writers have also not slept super well this week & last. Too much crazy is ongoing. The idea of slow care looks pretty good. 🕊️💕

You would be correct. I woke up around 2 am and began writing (I'm in EST). So much is going on, and I guess we are all feeling it. I enjoy the connection to the greater, but also its exhasting. I am going to try to get back to sleep now that I have written a bit more. I hope you have a lovely day.

I’m so happy you’re publishing here again after your troubles with FB, it feels like your articles this month have been spoken directly to me, they’re so relevant to where I am in the burnout cycle. The idea that “I am more capable therefore I owe the world more work” has haunted me for decades. I can’t even park close to the grocery store door without feeling guilty, because I have good mobility and can afford a longer walk than others, and that extended to every area of my life. It took the collapse for me to recognize that I was existing in a kind of wellness culture/WASP work ethic police state rather than the “optimization” I was promised.

The collapse itself felt like death, right up until it happened. Now it feels like the seeds of liberation, but I had to let the crash happen before I got there. I’m 7th(ish) generation (mostly) Irish/Scots Canadian with some more recent Eastern European ancestry thrown in, and WASP culture was written into me so deeply that I couldn’t find the edge of the mask to remove it voluntarily. I couldn’t receive this understanding until those structures collapsed inside me, and it does look different on the other side. If anyone else is facing that crash and thinking it’s the end of everything, just know that it’s the lie of supremacy culture that nothing good can exist outside of its “law and order”. It’s supremacy culture that wants you to believe you’re better off dead, or worthless without your utility value. You’re not alone, in spite of appearances, and Desiree’s work is transformative if you’ve never been shown another way before. I’m living proof - literally, still here and still sane because she diverted me out of panic and paralysis and towards community and liberation.
