With the part about lived experiences, it seems like the one exception to no one knowing our lived experiences better than us is when it comes to how we white people operate within whiteness. I’ve repeatedly had Black women tell me about me and when I reflect on what they say I’m like, “they’re 100% right!” Does this seem accurate to you? If so, is it because of the self-gaslighting and cognitive dissonance employed to continue to dehumanize and oppress people? Is this the same with all systems of oppression? Like the oppressed know oppressors better than we know ourselves (likely stemming from needing to for survival) type of thing?
