Day 56 of 100 days of community

Joy as a Foundation for Building Connection

Supremacy culture thrives on exhaustion, fear, and control. It demands our suffering, convincing us that liberation work must always feel like struggle—but that is a lie.

Joy is not a luxury. It is not a reward. It is a strategy for survival and resistance.

We are not meant to just endure. We are meant to thrive, to laugh, to dance, to rest, and to love deeply. Joy is the fuel that sustains long-term resistance, community building, and personal healing. Without it, we burn out.

That’s why today, we are talking about joy as a foundation for connection, resilience, and resistance. If we are serious about building liberated futures, we must reclaim joy as a political, spiritual, and communal act.

This discussion is part of my 100 Days of Community series, where we explore what it truly takes to create sustainable, intersectional, and just communities. If this resonates with you, consider becoming a paid subscriber to gain access to:

And that is not spiritual bypassing. That is survival.

Joy is not separate from the struggle—it is a direct refusal to let oppression steal our humanity. It is a radical act of defiance against a system that wants us exhausted.

So, how do we intentionally cultivate joy as part of our liberation practice?
