After I read They Were Her Property, I realized we’re doing the same thing our ancestors did, using the suffering and oppression of Black bodies to gain independence and self-sufficiency. I see overtly racist ww working in DEI and the violence is the same too. It’s wild to me. My problem is that I’ll see things in one arena, like dei, but not always expand that out. I struggle with generalizing and applying the same principles in different circumstances. Is that symptomatic of individualism or just my brain? I repeatedly failed algebra because I couldn’t transfer formulas to different equations. 🤣
