Desiree, Christianity did not arrive with the English. Ireland had taken to Christianity three centuries before the English showed up. An informative, well written article but you don't want to kick it off with a bum fact. Respectfully, — Dan

Good morning ☀️ Dan. I am absolutely the first person to say correct me when I am wrong and to remain curious and teachable so o am meeting this moment with that energy.

Would you care to tell me how Christianity was introduced to Ireland?

From all accounts I’ve learned is through Roman Britain with the most well documented example being Pallidius mission and the most popular being St Patrick.

Yes, Desiree, Saint Pat in the 400s gets the credit. Converted a Druid king on the Hill of Tara and Christianity started to take hold. Monasteries and convents springing up.

Book of Kells goes back to 800 or so.

So, well established by the time Henry ll and the English showed up around 1170.

The Pope of the day gave Henry the ok on colonization because the Irish bishops too independent for his liking.

Love your blog and vids.

All the best!
